Week of November 15-19

It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is next week! The closer we get to the holidays the faster the weeks seem to fly by! This week our theme was Turkeys! We focused on the letter Tt, the number 12, the shape of a heart and the color brown. On Monday, we read "The Great Turkey Race" and we made our turkeys with the feathers that spelled their names! Check them out! They are hanging just inside the classroom on the wall next to the cubbies. On Tuesday, we read "T is for Turkey". During center time, we made turkey puppets! These turned out adorable and are hanging on our classroom door! On Wednesday, we read "The Amazing Turkey Race". During center time we made coffee filter turkeys! On Thursday, we read "There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Turkey". During center time, we painted with forks and made turkey feathers with the fork and put a turkey body in front of our painting! Come in and check them out! They are hanging around our bathroom door! On Friday, we read "A Plump and Perky Turkey". During center time, we made Thanksgiving placemats.  Thank you to everyone who brought back a turkey! They all came out so adorable and creative! The kids enjoy going over and looking at their creations! I will be sending home all of their turkey creations next week on Tuesday so you can have them for Thanksgiving! Enjoy your weekend and I will see you all back for a short week next week!

Important dates to remember in November:

Week of November 8-11

Hello families!

This week went by very quickly! Our theme this week was "Let's go camping!" We focused on the letter Cc, the color green, the number 11 and the shape of a triangle. On Monday, we read "Camp Rex" and during center time we worked on forming the letter Cc with the bingo dobbers! On Tuesday, we read "Llama Llama Loves Camping". Then we worked on coloring words that start with the letter C. On Wednesday we read "Pig Pig Goes to Camp". In small group, we worked on how the color green is made. We painted one hand blue and one hand yellow and rubbed them together to make green! This seemed to be a big hit among them! We also got to go out to the big flat to see a couple of military vehicles! One of them was 50 years old! On Thursday, we read "The Camping Trip". We then got to keep working on their fine motor skills with playdoh! Best part is that they do not even realize they are building those finger muscles and fine motor skills when they are playing with play doh! Preschool also went over to the church to wave flags for Veteran's Day!  I sent home a project with your student on Wednesday! It is to disguise a turkey to get him through the Thanksgiving season without being eaten! This is a chance to get creative and disguise the turkey any way to help save him from being eaten. I put a return date of Wednesday, November 17th but if you need more time than that you may bring it back any time that week! If you finish it over the long weekend and want to bring it back on Monday you are more than welcome too! I am going to be displaying these in the classroom to share with everyone!  I hope everyone enjoys their long weekend! Enjoy the photos from the week!
