Week of September 25th- 30th

This week our theme was "Welcome Fall". We focused on the letter Ff, the number 5, the color yellow, and the shape of a diamond. On Monday, we read "Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn". During center time, the kiddos created Happy Fall crowns to celebrate welcoming fall! On Tuesday, we read "Amazing Autumn". We had a whole school assembly with JC Parks to show us a new sculpture that will be on Adrian's Island once it is completed. During center time, we colored a welcome fall booklet. The kiddos focused on staying inside the lines, using the right colors and I even braved getting the scissors out. :) On Wednesday, we read "The Leaves are Falling One by One". During center time, I worked one on one with the kiddos to see how their letter knowledge has grown since the end of August. It is always exciting to see how they are growing each month as we learn new letters and they gain new skills. :) On Thursday, we read "We're Going On A Leaf Hunt". During center time, the kiddos made their letter F is for feathers page for their ABC books that we are working on as we learn each new letter. This will be sent home at the end of the year when we have learned all the letters. On Friday, we had Fun and Fitness Friday with Miss Jay's friends. We walked all the way to Adrian's Island and when we got there we found out that they were putting up the Missouri river statue that we got to make coins for. We got to watch as they took the river portion of the statue onto the statue. It was so exciting watching the construction equipment and the whole process. As a whole school, we celebrated our monthly praise assembly! This month's theme was piety/prayer! I hope everyone has a great weekend! I will see you all on Monday! Enjoy the photos from the week!

Important dates in October:

• Field trip permission slips are due back on Monday, October 2nd. 
• Tuesday, October 10th is an early out. We will dismiss at 1:10 pm and there will be no after school care. 
• Friday, October 13th is the end of the first quarter. 
• Friday, October 20th is our field trip to Beyond the Barn in Loose Creek! 
• Wednesday, October 25th and Thursday, October 26th will be parent/ teacher conferences. 
• Thursday, October 26th is an early out. We will dismiss at 1:10 and there will be no after school care. 
• Friday, October 27th is a no school day. 
• Tuesday, October 31st will be our Halloween party. 

Week of September 18th- 22nd

This week our theme was "Way Up High in the Apple Tree". We focused on the letter Aa, the number 4, the color of green and the shape of an oval. On Tuesday, we read "A Day in the Apple Orchard". We talked about what an apple orchard was and began to look at the life cycle of an apple tree. During center time, the kiddos began to color their name puzzle apple. Once they were all done, I cut them out and laminated them. The kiddos then got a chance to practice putting their name puzzle together. These went home on Tuesday. This would be a great way to continue to work with your child on the letters that are found in their name. On Wednesday, we read "Fluffy Goes Apple Picking". We worked together as a team to create homemade applesauce in our classroom. I sent home the recipe on Wednesday but if you need another copy let me know and I will send it home again with your child. :) On Thursday, we read "Apples". During center time, each kiddo tried the three apple colors. The kiddos then colored the apple that they like the most and we graphed it out to see which apple was the class favorite. You can check this out as it is hanging on our white board in our classroom! On Friday, we had fun and fitness Friday! We celebrated a late Bring your bear to school day! Our teddy bears went to watch us at P.E., played with us in centers and watched over us as we napped! I hope everyone has a great weekend! I will see you all on Monday! Important Dates in September

• Book orders are due Friday, September 29th. If you have already placed an order I will submit in on that Friday to give families more time to place an order if they would like!  
• September praise assembly is Friday, September 29th. The school wide theme for the month of September has been prayer/piety.
