Week of May 9-13th

It is really starting to hit me that next week is our last week together for the year! This week our theme was beach as we prepare for all things summer in a couple of weeks. We spent the week focusing on numbers 1-10 and having fun! On Monday, we read "Commotion in the Ocean". During center time, I finished up assessing the students! We got to watch a Wild Kratts episode about sharks! On Tuesday, we read "Big Shark, Little Shark". During center time, they colored their very own ocean creature and made a coffee filter beach ball! These turned out so cute! They did a great job of following the direction of coloring each section just one color and adding lots of colors to their beach ball! On Wednesday, we read "The Rainbow Fish". During center time, we made our very own rainbow fish by stamping the scales on with toilet paper rolls! We had a special afternoon snack of smores to celebrate beach week! On Thursday, we read "Sharks". During center time, we began our two day project. Thursday, we colored the ocean animals that would be going in our tin foil ocean. On Friday, we read "The Deep Blue Sea". During center time, we finished our project from the day before and we painted the tin foil and glued on our creatures. We also got to wave goodbye to the 8th graders as they headed to graduation! Thursday I sent home a sheet that we have been using to practice our names at school that you can use to practice at home this summer with your child! I hope everyone has a great weekend and I will see you for our last Monday of the year! Enjoy the photos from the week!

On Monday, we read "What Not to Give Your Mom on Mother's Day". During center time, we used the bingo dobbers to form the letters Q and U. On Tuesday, we read "Mother's Day Surprise". During center time, we worked on cards that went along with our mother's day gift! On Wednesday, we read "The Mother's Day Mice". During center time, we worked on our special Mother's day gift! On Thursday, we read "The Night Before Mother's Day". During center time, I worked on assessing the students on what all they have learned this school year! I am so proud of them and how much they have all grown this school year! On Friday, we read "How to Raise a  Mom". We had a morning fire drill! During center time, they worked on coloring the package that held their mother's day gift!
