The Week of October 4th-8th

It is hard to believe that another full week has flown by. I feel like the weeks are picking up speed as they go by. This week we focused on the letter Hh, the number 7, the shape of a star, and the color pink. Our theme this week was God bless our community heroes. We focused on who community helpers were and what they do for us. I have added some dress up to our play area and the kids have loved dressing up and portraying different community helpers. The most popular one seems to be the doctor and all of the tools that come along with being a doctor. On Monday, we read "Hooray for Our Heroes!". We started talking about all of the different kinds of community helpers we can find here in Jefferson City and all over the country. We also made our very own community helper puppets. It was fun to see what community helper drew their eyes. I also took their photos with a sign for what they want to be when they grow up. I have put their photos down below. On Tuesday, We read "Helpers in Your Neighborhood". We focused on the letter H in small group. We worked on starting working on starting our dobbers at the top like we would if we were writing. On Wednesday, we read "When I Grow Up." In small group, we made our very own community helper hats. The kids got to pick out what community helper they wanted to represent on their hats. On Thursday, we read "I Want to Be a Police Officer". We also had a special guest come and visit and talk with the preschool classes, my husband, Edgar. He showed us all of the cool stuff that he keeps on his vest and showed us his cool car that he drives to work. He also read us a story before we got to go outside and check out all of the cool things he had and ask him questions. Edgar brought them stickers that made them all his junior deputies and a goodie bag that they can color! On Friday, we read "The Gingerbread Man Loose on the Fire Truck". We practiced our fire drill for fire prevention week. We also got to make thank you cards for teachers, police officers and firefighters! This has been a fun week seeing all of them be excited about what they want to be when they grow up! This is a class full of bright futures! Enjoy your weekend and I will see you on Monday! Just a reminder as well to please make sure that your child is getting signed in and out. Thank you!
