Tuesday, May 16th

There is definitely an excitement in the air for tomorrow's Summer Blast Off! Today we started our morning with our alphabet song, our counting song, and listening to "Last Day Blues". We started our morning by playing with Ms. Jay's friends and watching "Turning Red". We began cleaning out our classroom for the end of the year. After we had our final lunch of pizza in the cafeteria for the school year. We headed back to Ms. Jay's room to finish "Turning Red" and started "Monsters Inc.". Seems so bitter sweet that we have reached the last Tuesday already! We celebrated our last praise assembly of the school year!

In their cubbies yesterday was a yellow note about what your child will need for Summer Blast Off  TOMORROW! Please make sure to look over it to make sure you have all that your child will need that day! Just a reminder, they are going to need a lunch, clothes to change into, and a towel. If you would like your child to wear sunscreen it would be best to apply it first thing in the morning before school and if you would like it reapplied you can bring it to school with their name on it. They are going to need to wear their swimsuit under their clothes to school on Wednesday.

Monday, May 15th

It is our last Monday! I will be writing a blog each day this week to keep you updated on all of the fun that we are having as we wrap up year one of preschool! Today we started our morning with our alphabet song, our counting song, and listening to the story, "The Night Before Summer Vacation". During our morning center time, we played with shaving cream! We also free played around the classroom, which was exciting for them that they were not limited to what center they could play in! We spent the afternoon playing in our classroom with Ms. Jay's friends as the rain decided to join us just as we were getting ready to go outside and play.

Week of May 8th - May 12th

This week our theme was "Let's Go To The Beach". We focused on reviewing all of the letters, numbers, colors and shapes that we have learned this year! On Monday, we read "Splat The Cat: Fishy Tales". During center time, the kiddos showed me what they have learned this school year through our final assessments. On Tuesday, we read "Commotion in the Ocean". During center time, we worked on our Mother's Day projects and I helped the students fill out an information sheet all about Mom. I got quite a chuckle with some of their answers! On Wednesday, we read "Splat the Cat: A Whale of a Tale". During center time, the kiddos made their summer "bucket" list. We celebrated beach day by watching Moana with Ms. Jay and Ms. Brittney's friends! They started by coloring their bucket and shovel and then I helped them add a couple of things that they are hoping to do this summer! We also put the final touches on our mother's day gifts! On Thursday, we read " There Was An Old Mermaid Who Swallowed a Shark". During center time, each kid got a chance to color a thank you card for one of the preschool teachers! On Friday, we celebrated our last fun and fitness Friday of the school year! We played on the playground, colored with chalk, played basketball and tether ball. We cheered on the eight graders as they headed onto their promotion ceremony. We got a chance to watch "Letter Factory" with Ms. Jay's friends as we all reviewed the letters that we learned this school year. I unfortunately did not get as many pictures this week as we were working on our secret Mother's day gifts and assessing! I hope everyone has a great weekend! I will see you all on Monday for our last week of school! That seems so crazy to say! Have a great weekend!

Our special snacks for the day were pancakes and cookies that we got to decorate! On Friday, we wrapped up sweet treat week with our fun and fitness Friday! We took our sweet treat theme and turned it into a challenge! We learned that with gravity what goes up, must come down! We put whip cream on a spoon and threw up in the air and tried to catch it in our mouth! Once we all got two chances, we took to the school to see if some of the teachers and staff were up for our sweet treat challenge! We challenged Mr. Veit, Ms. Mckenzie, Mr. Richard, our wonderful lunch heroes, Mrs. Hasty, Mrs. Brauner, Mr. Rockers, Mr. Jacob, Mrs. Schaefer, Mrs. Erin and Mrs. Shimmens!  Our special snacks were strawberry shortcake and Italian ice that was provided by the Starr family and their new business RJ's Real Italian Ice here in Jefferson City! Make sure you check them out! I enjoyed sweet treat so much and I hope that they all did too! Thank you so much to everyone who donated items to help make our different sweet treats this week! Enjoy the photos from this week! I will see you all on Monday for our last full week of Preschool! (That seems so crazy to say!)
